I like the violin. A very versatile instrument that plays everything from classical to country and bluegrass. But what I absolutely can't stand, for some reason, is the combination for the violin and the piano. I would just as soon here an accordian with Roseann Barr singing.

There is nothing worse than a violin played badly.

And there a lot better things than one played well!

Which "society" are you speaking of, prad? (or which "segment of society" are you referring to?)

When played with skill and passion, it's hard to beat the violin. 🙂

While I heartedly (sp) agree with you, a baritone sax is a powerful expressive instrument too... 🙂

But I adhere (sp) to the baroque string quartets of, say, Handel... Wonderful masterpieces!

P.S.: specially (also not a proper quartet in form) the nr 12 concert by Handel. The counterpoint between the 1st and 2nd violins in the 2nd movement is astonishing.

I use to play the violin once and could not stand the sound of the highest string....so i switched to playing the viola.....and then i stopped when i went to colleged....and to this day have missed playing it,but appartly i am at the age where it is useless to learn again....so i shall stick to my guitar.....but those instuments are very difficult but very beautiful to play.

There's not something like that! There's no age to continue/start studying how to play a (any) musical instrument. 🙂

Gang violins are worse. Picture Itzhak Perlman and his crew bumping into Joshua Bell in a dark alley...

It's not just violins that are to blame. It's the combination of sax and violins that are contributing to the moral turpitude and orchestral degradation in this country.

What? were we discussing particularly on the music of one country? Out of topic I think... 😲

Dont forget the constant supply of drums crossing our nation's borders.
