Not according to some of the people that teach it...apparently they say that...your learning process slows down drematically after the age of 16,making it really hard for you to learn beyond a certain point......i think mine stopped after 12!hehe
I think that if you the compation (i think thats how you spell that) for the music you can learn what ever you want to.

Violins are great anywhere... I'd rather hear a violin than harmonica sometimes... and harmonicas are all over in music. Just depends how the violin is played....
