As of 12:30 P.M. Aug.5th the MAP leader, Rebel Clan leader, keeper of Red Hot Ted and just in general pretty darn good embassador at RHP is clocking in with 98,199 total moves. In honor of the inevitable 100,000 move milestone, the Barrington Chess Club (membership 4) has decided to sponser a Guess the Day he Hits a Hundred Grand contest. The lucky winner will have 2 large RHP coffee mugs shipped to him/her anywhere in the world. The rules are simple: the closest entry to the time and date Rhymester hits 100,000 moves wins the mugs. If there is a tie (geez....) you gotta play sudden death chess games to win. One winner only🙂....all times are GMT, entries will be taken out of this thread until August 8th at noon GMT. Rhymester, Red Hot Ted, and any of his relatives are disqualified from entering🙂.In an attempt to save 30- some odd dollars here I will pick Sept 4, 10:00 AM GMT. One entry per screen name.
After almost a year at RHP, I have read many threads in the forums arguing the value of MAP. Many players, especially very talented ones, dont seem to have much use for it.Players of lesser talent seem to enjoy it more, its like a competition they can have a part in. Whatever ones strength, most here appear to have a deep love of the game, and thats what really counts. Good luck in the contest, and I gotta tell ya Andrew, its not the move count that really gets to me, its that while you've made all those moves you have been home getting PAID. Thats the biggest win of em all.....cheers!

Just to be pedantic, I should point out that in Britian we are currently on British Summer Time (BST) and not GMT so when I said 17:30 I suppose it's 16:30 GMT.
