This is incorrect. The church season of Advent goes from roughly 4 weeks before December 25th-Dec.24th. Dec.25th- January 6th is The Christmas season, then Jan 7th starts the season of Epiphany. So you see according to the church Christmas lasts for 12 days.

When I was younger my Granny confused me on the meaning of the word of. She was old fashioned and archaic in her speech. If it was 11:45 she would say it's a quarter of 12. 11:30 was half past 11, and 12:15 was a quarter past 12. So I assumed of meant before and thought the 12 days before Christmas. But then I noticed the church seasons etc and googled it.
