I dont see the point in entering these big tounaments anymore as 9 out of 10 times i get grouped with so called grand masters or people 100's of points higher than me (cyborgs) all this means is i have no chance and lose points and games which is pointless. Why dont they limit the higher level players to their own tournaments and let them battle their egos together instead of using lower level players as cannon fodder.

I will be sticking to fixed rated tournaments from now on as they are a fair reflection of mine and the people in thems ability. nuff said

Unbanded tournaments are the tournaments for higher rated players. And of course the 2006 Championship is such a tournament.

PS. Where's the cyborg cutoff?

Careful! You might learn something.

BTW: If they're hundreds of points ahead of you, then the points you lose are minimal.

that makes no difference you should be able to enter a tournament with the possibility of winning it. Getting matched against such higher rated players/engines is a total mismatch and unfair to people who enjoy playing for fun in tournaments and do not want to be beaten before they even make a move.

I entered alot of tounaments recently and it has had a bad effect on my record but as i say i will be sticking to fixed rated tournaments from now on as i am not sad enough to use engines in order to win

the truth only hurts if you do not accept it ...

make it your friend and then the truth will not hurt.

Aw hell, I entered. I'm a sucker for these every year, despite my resignation to not play chess competitively anymore. Oh well, maybe the points I win will move my rating into the 'sentient being' catagory. 😉
