IMO - In my opinion
IMHO - In my humble opinion
IMNSHO - In my not so humble opinion
FADD - Feline Attention Deficit Disorder
TLA - Three-letter acronym
Anyway, began to wonder about these new words. Specifically if they really move the expression of language forward or if they're nothing
more than another set of generic code words to hide behind. Help me.

Edit: Guess maybe at this point I'd rather dumb up than dumb down. 🙂

Meph, is continuing coinage still encouraged or even allowed? If so, could a (first two letter, namesake) word like... GBIYH possibly gain acceptance?

'Go back in your hole' or the polite version, 'Please go back in your hole'.

WTF?!? (What The ****?!?) Yes, it makes a difference. Yours is wrong. That's the main difference. It's like the girl at work who swore LOL stood for "Love You Lots." Which is unbelievably stupid, but true. (LOL = Laughing/Laughs Out Loud.)
Edit - I forgot to add the FTW variation (For The Win when used in a positive or **** The World when tattooed on an arm attached to a guy riding a Harley Davidson.)

BTW, LMAO and ROTFLMAO...
are the only three contemporary vocabulary 'words' I've learned so far. So how about devoting a few minutes to teaching a still teachable
dinosaur/codger what he needs to know to come of age, to tighten up his posts in the process and to pass with respectability in a crowd.
Please and thank you.

Don't destroy the beautiful English language like so many heathens these days!!!
Take a step back...
You'll see.
You can write LOL (laugh out loud) at someone's comment, but it's just a few letters more to actually say: "Hell... that was funny, boy!"
Don't take the dark path! It's easier... that's true. But ultimately you'll end up saying: "L.O.L. Cya L8R" on the phone...
Take a step back.
Slowly. Step back.

I don't know - I first started seeing these things on local BBSes way back in 1992/3ish and they were explained to me as:
LOL = Laugh/Laughs/Laughing out loud.
ROFL = Rolling On (the) Floor Laughing.
ROFLMAO = Rolling On (the) Floor Laughing My Backside Off.
BRB = Be Right Back.
TTYL = Talk To You Later.
WTF = What The Heck?
I think that was all of them back then...
