"Heh... '404' named word of the year, thanks in part to Obamacare failures" By Jennifer Harper - The Washington Times; November 6, 2013, 09:39AM Recent Entries
The Global Language Monitor has declared that “404” is their official “Word of the Year.” The Austin-based research group determined the winner based on frequency of actual usage, using computer-aided tracking of some 275,000 print, electronic and social media sources. Yes well. The numbers-only designation appeared a lot recently at the Obamacare website, but we already know all that. “404 is the near-universal numeric code for failure on the global Internet, augmenting its original use as ‘page not found’ ” explains chief analyst Paul JJ Payack. “The recent ObamaCare launch debacle in the US is only a representative example of a much wider system fail.”
And rounding out the top-five words of the year after 404, in second place, it’s “fail”, a single word often used as a complete sentence (Fail!) to signify failure of an effort, project, or endeavor”, Mr. Payack says. “Hashtag” is third, designating the number or pound sign reborn as the all-powerful Twitter hashtag. In fourth place, speaking of hashtags, is @Pontifex, the actual hashtag of the ever-more popular Pope Francis. And in fifth place, it’s “optic”, which the analyst says is threatening to overtake the “narrative” - just as the narrative overtook the phrase rational discourse.
“This does not bode well for an informed political discussion,” Mr. Payack says. Interestingly enough, “toxic politics” was the phrase of the year, while Pope Francis was the name of the year." 404-named-word-year-thanks-part-obamacare-failures

K is for killing rampages.
2013 has been a relatively quiet year in comparison to the preceding years here in the US. Although there had been punctuated events prior, beginning on September 05, 1949, the US has seen no less than 50 rampages by cuckoo-for-cocoa-puff gunmen since then... most ending either in self-inflicted death or suicide by cop.
That somewhat original event mentioned involved a 28-year old WWII vet in Camden, NJ, who thought it a good idea to walk down 32nd street mowing down a baker's dozen of innocents with his war-appropriated Luger. This was his way to get back at the nameless people he imagined had something to do with the thievery of a gate he recently built at his mother's house.
Found insane, he died sixty years later in 2009 while nestled into one of the state's mental institutions. His last public words:
"I'd have killed a thousand if I had enough bullets."

N "No deal reached in Iran nuke talks"[/b]
"GENEVA The European Union's top diplomat and Iran's foreign minister say nuclear talks between six world powers and Tehran did not seal a deal. The EU's Catherine Ashton and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif say progress was made over three days of efforts. But they said early Sunday that further rounds are needed to agree on initial limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for some easing of sanctions on its economy.
World powers will reconvene at the political directors' level on Nov. 20 in Geneva for more talks. Tehran says it does not want atomic arms but has said it is ready for concessions if sanctions are lifted. Earlier, talks on a deal ran into trouble when France questioned whether the proposal went far enough, casting doubt an agreement could be reached during the current round of negotiations."
