29th February

General

It's a spare day. It should be declared a public holiday the world over.

Well, apparently, these "...forums are the core of the 'Red Hot Pawn' community" and with RHP being hands down the best chess web site in the world, we've made a pretty solid start by raising the issue with this thread. Let's wait and see how the world reacts.

In Belgrade, due an unexpected delay, 29th today is also deadline for electricity bills.
When I pay it, in the post office (working hours til 19.00), it will make it double holiday.

I'll be celebrating the birthday of Pirate Apprentice Frederic.

As I have heard today this date is the one where the woman proposes to her groom to be.

Does anyone have friends who were born on 29th February? How did/do they deal with birthdays?

These are the things people want to know.

When clickbait isn't superficial enough, call on FMF.

My sister was born at ten minutes to midnight on 28th February. One of her best friends at school was born exactly half an hour later in the same year. Her friend had a really big party every four years when she was a kid, and only cards-and-a-cake on three intervening 28ths each time around.

The ones I've come across just celebrated a normal birthday on either 28th or 1st.

I vote: we commission a royal baker to bake a royal cake with divegeester getting his "just reward" from FMF.

I further decree that the cake shall depict divegeester in a state of genuine shock and awe at the "present" from FMF, in such a state as though it was either much larger than expected, or (as is more likely) much, much smaller than expected.

Afterwards (and with considerable deference to decorum) the two shall be photographed in resigned repose, as though none were disappointed, either in the giving or the half-hearted taking.

All in favor?

That was how it was with the only other leap baby I knew, a kid at school in the year below me.

... maybe it's the one day every four years that the right woman is allowed to propose to her right man
