1, Dad's wisdom
2, Brain excersise
3, the tactics, and the battles, the challenge and the revenge, the love and the sacrifice, the heros and the defeated.. arrrrrrrrrrr i love this game!!

what got me into chess, well i watched to old farts playing it in a park and it looked like a good time killer..

1) i never quite remember how i started playing but my dad taught me and i always remember knowing how to be able to move the pieces...so that is one reason.

2) hot angry chess chicks like EDG ( see "somebody move or i will get very angry" thread) 😉

3) what really got me into chess was joining this site....the community basically....thanks Russ 😀😀😀

1) It was the first thing I could beat my dad in.

2) I love mental battles, and chess is best at that.

1. My dad-he taught me and was an excellent opponent (until I started winning every game.)

2. Showing off-lots of people are impressed at how smart you are if you play chess.

3. The joy of thinking-I know this sounds stupid, but it's a great feeling to think through a variation completely and have fun in understanding a position. Also, formulating long term strategies falls under this catagory as well.
