In fact, both of you are on record as wanting thumbs to disappear entirely.
you are on record as wanting thumbs to disappear entirely.

I find anonymous thumbs to be an infantile site feature. If it's a choice between anonymous thumbs and no thumbs, sure, I'd opt for no thumbs.

But I think non-anonymous thumbs is a form of free speech & communication that would be a reasonable compromise for those who like social media gimmicks like this.

I don't use the thumbs up/down feature; I might have done so when I was a teenager.

Let me be perfectly crystal clear and audible on this, since you persist in gaslighting everyone.

It was @divegeester, and, by association, you.
It wasn't me and I have no reason to believe it was divegeester.

Grampy Bobby detested anonymous red thumbs and saw it as the epitome of interpersonal cowardice.

Countless threads of his were marred by ridiculous displays of anonymous animosity using the childish 'secret disapproval' thumbs feature which was probably distorted by people using multiple accounts to stir up thumb storms.

So, I imagine it was probably him who lobbied to have the thumbs removed from threads that had been closed.

Does anybody else want to talk about something that happened to them exactly 5,000 days ago?
Pretty sure most of us would rather tell you to frock off.

If only you were capable of leading by example.

Well, I don't use the infantile anonymous thumbs site feature, so if that's "leading by example", then so be it.

It's a pity that you have tainted Cambridge's reputation.

We didn't have thumbs 5000 days ago, we had recommended posts which were worth reading. Thumbs ruined all that when they came.
What would be interesting would be if there were Recommended Posts and Disrecommended Posts [equivalent to green and red thumbs] and then you'd see hundreds and hundreds of perfectly reasonable, funny, thoughtful and grown-up posts being highlighted on the Disrecommended Posts as a result of silly secret clickers digitizing their catch-all, brainless, teenage animosities.

Like the Few Posters who thumb down my "Did you know" thread without even reading it? 🙂
