Why not just let the mods do their job and stop whining about it.

Everyone thinks they need help or that they could do a better job, which I really, really doubt.

90% of a mod's job is invisible, so that's why they don't have to answer to the hoi polloi.
No one is whining about anything. No one is claiming to be able to do a better job. Think again.

what about a variable ban time?

6 hours for minor offense,
6 days for a mayor abuse
Yep, that might be the right way,
The length of a ban will be prolonged in each next case.
But what if the forum member proves incorrigible?

The next step - here I suggest - would be to approach to their family
If he&she doesn't care about his own punishment, perhaps he&she would care about suffering of their closest.relatives?

Here is an example:

It is greek and means "the People" and is used as an Expression to denote the "ordinary" People.

Meth induced seizures last longer than 6 hours.

So I've heard.

Seriously, what is with all the 'necro-posting' going on at RHP? On every other forum I've ever posted on, once the last post in a thread is over 30 days old, it's considered extreme bad taste to bring the thread back from the dead in this manner, and people get called out on it, and mods give warnings to those who do so. Here I guess it's just considered 'business as usual'.

Very disconcerning.

What if subscribers have the collective power to inflict short forum bans on any other poster they see misbehaving?

A short sharp shock from one's fellow public forum contributors. Posts could not be removed but the short ban would have to be linked/referenced to a spe ...[text shortened]... power to the people
