@very-rusty saidAnd Hanukkah starts the 18th, at sundown.👍🤐
Just for those of you who need a gentle reminder. 🙂

the postal carrier left a box on the porch and i didn’t have a clue as to what it was or who sent it
i schlepped it inside even tho it could have been explosive or a bioweapon
when i got around to opening it, HARRY AND DAVID was plastered on everything inside
and since my mother used to swear by that store i figured it was dad who sent it
i put the chocolate covered cherries in the fridge because i like them cold
last night, after several hours, i opened the box
like many products, it had an inner bag
the cellophane they use is far more powerful than the stuff i remember from childhood
i fetched a pair of scissors
nipped off the top of the bag and dropped it back in the box which caused it to slip from my hands and down to the floor
this caused all the lil hard chococherry balls to ERUPT and scatter throughout the kitchen which immediately caught the attention of two curious dogs
so
i’m yelling warnings of mayhem to the canines while scooping up expensive dark chocolate and dog hair and dead cockroaches and throwing everything into the sink
i paused to give the dogs treats for being frightened of their father and then ran cold water over the chocolate temptations
i laid them out to dry on a towel and determined that the five second rule did not apply in this case and ate four of them and did not experience a single hairy unpleasantness
how’s yer day going?
@very-rusty saidThe high school I attended, in Montreal, had a large (65% ) Jewish population though they were mostly what they referred to as non orthodox/celebrating their holidays but rarely going to synagogue. As they took off the Christian holidays like Xmas (well the schools were actually closed so they really didn’t have a choice) but I thought, “Hey, since they take advantage of Christian holidays, I take advantage of theirs”. Had I though more, as there were students of other faiths it the school too, I should have taken their holidays off too. Ah hind site eh?🤔😉👍
Do you Celebrate Hanukkah? 🙂

@great-big-stees saidSo you speak both languages? You think they would have let you take every holiday, or celebrate it?

@very-rusty saidBoth languages? I speak English and French fluently yes but fail to see the connection to my response.🤔

@great-big-stees saidI asked if you think they would let you celebrate all the holidays! 🙂 At least you got half the question. 🙂

@rookie54 saidWhat a heartbreaking story. I love chocolate covered cherries. Had the cherries also been steeped in a liqueur with a crisp sugary shell coating to the inner dark chocolate shell?

I’ve already eaten three quarters of one of my two Christmas cakes.
@very-rusty saidTimes in the late 50s, early 60s were quite different than the are now. Had I tried taking off other faiths’ high holidays I’m sure the school would have caught on quickly and asked my parents what was going on.
