Wait, not that movie. What's the movie where the 2 army guys, retired buy a lion to hunt on their farm and the kid adopts it?
Second Hand Lions?
P-
[i]Hood 1: Hey, who do you think you are, huh?
Garth: Just a dumb kid, Hub. Don't kill him.
Hub: [to Garth] Right.
[Grabs Hood 1 by the throat]
Hub: I'm Hub McCann. I've fought in two World Wars and countless smaller ones on three continents. I led thousands of men into battle with everything from horses and swords to artillery and tanks. I've seen the headwaters of the Nile, and tribes of natives no white man had ever seen before. I've won and lost a dozen fortunes, KILLED MANY MEN and loved only one woman with a passion a FLEA like you could never begin to understand. That's who I am. NOW, GO HOME, BOY!

Why did the vets have to respond with such senseless violence?
The thief obviously wasn't properly socialized as a child, probably came from a dysfunctional family. Maybe he needed the money to pay rent.
I'm sure they could have reasoned with him.
"When the gunman lunged for the cash, Dietsch grabbed his arm, pushing away the gun. They struggled and Dietsch fell to the floor. The startled attacker, who looked to be in his 20s, ran to the door empty-handed.
Legion volunteer Earl Gray, 64, followed and tackled the gunman outside the accounting room. Gray pinned him to the floor briefly, but the attacker was able to escape out a side door".
their "senseless violence": pushing away a gun he was holding on them, and trying to detain him.

you can make excuses like this for everyone from Charlie Manson on down.
I'm sure they could have reasoned with him.
and what makes you so sure of this?
enough sympathy for the criminal. he was stealing from war widows who probably need to pay rent too. the vets acted bravely, even heroically, while he acted in a cowardly fashion.

2. these are senior citizens whose example you would do well to learn from. a lot of us here work on computers on a daily basis as part of our jobs. and, to take a bit of a break, i suppose, we make a few chess moves, maybe post in the forums. we spend a lot of our time in front of a pc screen simply because that's the nature of the workplace today. but you're different in that respect, i suppose. you seem to spend very many long hours here simply because you seem to have nothing else to do, except spam GF. heck, you hardly even play chess here.
