Just heard about a 911 call on the radio.

'Could you please send an officer over here'?

"What is the problem"?

'My 2 daughters are fighting, one is 14, on is 12 and she's kicking holes in the door. The 12 year old is out of control'.

"Would you like us to send someone over to shoot her"?

Silence

"That was a Joke".

'I don't find that funny, and I will be talking with your supervisor'.

"I understand, I shouldn't have said that. It was just a joke".

etc.

(This was paraphrased from memory)

Anyone hear about this? What think?!

I just read it and it sounds like another case of somebody not having control over their interior dialogue again (the 911 operator)

Yeah, she should lighten up... it's not like her 12 year old daughter who's about the same size as her was kicking holes in the doors, and she couldn't get control of her....

I'd have said the same thing.

Edit: But maybe I'd have meant it.

I agree, but I think the general American public is all uptight and sue happy. 🙁

Who calls 911 on their kid? The woman should be given whatever the standard penalty is for unnecessary 911 calls.

This reminds me of a story about Fritz Perls, the founder of Gestalt Therapy. A client came in and said he wanted to kill himself. Perls opened his desk draw and gave him a gun. Completely blown away (sorry for poor use of words) , the man stuttered and stammered so Perls suggested they discuss what he really wanted to talk about.

Single mother, or no father home at the time... she can't handle her kid either way. The girl is kicking holes in the door(s). What do you want her to do? My mother couldn't afford new doors for her house, and I sure would hope she'd call the cops if my sister were kicking them in.

Please explain how to handle this situation.

Put her in a cage of course.

This was a very badly placed/timed joke. I realize humour is important, but perhaps this operator should get a job working for the cable company or something.

"No ma'am, I'm not sending the deputies down there over a cheeseburger. You need to go in there and act like an adult and either get your money back or go home. "

Funny, usually all telephone operators I come across are completely devoid of humour.
