I was really struggling with the former yugoslavia. funny how you think 'of course I know them all, no sweat', but then when you have to actually pick between something like montenegro and bosnia & herzegovina, it's not that easy anymore.

try the http://www.easyrgb.com/ online calibration. it doesn't really change your monitor settings, but instead adjusts the easyrgb website's colors so they'll be 'correct'. but it also shows the difference before/after, so you'll see how much your colors are off.
then, if they're really off, you might want to go through the trouble of making a real color profile and get your OS to load it at startup.
