A compliment for HandyAndy

Andy, I was too late to post this in a certain other thread:

I think it's admirable that HandyAndy continues to read books and promote the reading of books in a time when the internet seems to have scrambled or at least reconfigured the brains of so many others, making it more difficult for them (including me) to read books, a skill which requires sustained attention.

Of course I know there are others on this site (e.g., Torunn and Pondy, probably no1maurader, and perhaps many more) who also still read books, but Andy's example was the most prominent for me.

HandyAndy is able to make a telling or laugh-out-loud comment with less words than most posters here.

The complimentary thread was removed and I'm not sure if Andy was in time to read what was said about him. I can only repeat: Andy is special, and a special friend to me.

He is a gentleman.👍

We go back a long time, the three of us, don't we Stees?

And his good wife is a darn nice lady too. Stand up gentleman.

I met Handy and his wife, along with several other RHPers, at a meet up in Rhode Island a while back but have not yet been able to have had the pleasure of meeting, in person, the lovely torunn, though we have spoken in the past.

Yes we have, and when I was in New York a few years ago with my friends, I thought maybe I could fit in a meet-up with you then, but it wasn't possible - I think you and your partner were planning another trip.

But I have seen the photos of your meet-up with the chess friends including Andy and his wife, and you all seemed to have a very good time.

He’s a grumpy old dickhead.
