I will offer a few observations of the dream, but you and you only are the final judge of how these may fit or not fit. ...[text shortened]... ne anothers shadow. Behold, your nemesis and your opportunity. 😉
nah kirksey, your analysis is not appropriate.
but what can you expect when you insist on doing a post mortem. 😀

you can see quite plainly that putting a pawn beside the afile 'off the board' should be pawnished. 😀
your "I" really doesn't relate to a "you" except in an IOU. 😀
what was said was only "let's blame it on cribs", but your interpretation, in all seriousness, is in itself quite revealing.
for me, your conclusions would have been more suitable had the game not been chess, but cribbage. 😀
and identifying nemesis is kind of like being on a tv medical game show: name-a-cyst. 😀
now there's an opportunity!

Speaking of dreams... Whats the worst dream everyone has ever had?
First, a definition is required... 'Acco-press' (if I'm spelling it right) is a thin metal strip that is folded to fit through holes punched in paper. It has a couple of small metal bands that can be slid to take up slack so that it can clasp any thickness of papers in a report or file, up to some maximum thckness of a few inches.

If you handle an Acco-press roughly enough, the thin edge can cut your skin. I'm sure I have done just such a thing at least once, and that must have led to the dream.

I see about three inches of the tip of an Acco-press sticking out of a hole in the skin of my forearm. I can tell by the ridge of skin on the forearm that the rest of the darned thing is embedded just under the skin. I agonize on what to do. The way I see it, there are three possibilities, each of which will involve pain. (1) Pull on the end of it and try to make it slide out of the wound; (2) Take a razor blade to my forearm and slice the skin along the ridge so as to pull the Acco-press out sideways; (3) drive to the hospital and let them deal with it, which will mean stitches and the expenditure of money.

Possible interpretation: I'm a cheapskate son of a gun. 🙂

OK, your "a" pawn is off the board. What does that expression "off the board" mean to you? OK, OK, I'll quit. I was just hoping that after 3 years of being on the couch at $80/hour I might have something to offer.

that's very good, kirk!
don't let rachel know you did the freudship pun though - or i'm sure i'll be hearing from her again! LOL

i have to admit that i had to work pretty hard on the nemisis one, but it was worth it.

now perhaps i didn't explain this properly about the "a" pawn stuff, so let me try again since you seem to think that my a pawn is off the board which is going a bit overboard actually 😀

now seriously, let's say you and i are playing OTB and the board has, like most boards, a bit of an edge around the squares. my a pawn is just fine on the afile at a5. so is yours say at a4. my b pawn is doing just fine on the bfile say at b4 and so is yours say at b3. so things are pretty even there, ok?

now say you take one of your pawns (that i no doubt captured through considerable ingenuity) and put it on that edge beyond the squares sort of diagonal to a5 and proceed to use this pseudpositioning to capture my a pawn! you see! not only have you made a mockery of the hard work i put into capturing your pawn (probably a center one, too!), you choose to reincarnate it most inappropriately to suit your own purposes! that's just not cricket! well, of course not - because this is chess 😀

i hope that clears up any logistic misunderstandings.

but it is something to pawnder over. 😀
you could confuse someone with a move like that and put them into a real pawndery 😀
mind you, were it done cleverly with fewer pawns, then it'd be a minorwitty attack 😀

thanks for offering to help anyway.
that signature you came up with was particularly beneficial.
now, however, i feel i have to repay you for the it.

you see, i thought it was really tres cool!
so i figure the best way to sign off is ...
