Fact that whole populations have been led away into captivity and suffered extended periods of deprivation, hardship and bondage does

not in the least set aside or change the fundamental principle: 'A person convinced against his (or her) will is of the same opinion still'.

So says one side of the coin....what does the other side of the coin say?

How is it unchristian? You mean un-evangelical?

I don't see it as unchristian.

christianity, typically being the act of following christ. would involve making disciples, either the mormon/jehovahs witness way, or perhaps the missionary way, or perhaps the way of the crusades, all factions of christianity have there own method of conversion. Unless you have your own make shift christianity beliefs, and in that case your not really christian.

Well, I'm not a devout Christian, nor very scholarly when it comes to the gospel, but I don't view it as important to convert anyone, nor do I ever have it as an aim. Jesus was quite clear in several spots though saying that the highest law is to love God and only slightly less important is to love your brother (meaning all other people).

I think GB is simply enunciating a basic tenet of life, namely that although a thousand people tell me the same important truth, nevertheless, unless and until I tell myself that same fact, it will not be a truth to me, regardless of it's importance. In other words, nobody can take the step from ignorance to knowledge for me, I must be the one to grasp it for myself, thereby enabling the change.

Precisely, muppy, along with the principle of respecting volition and accepting the fact that many if not most are likely to reject what you

may have to say on any given day (or thread). In none of its sixty six books does the Bible presume to encourage, much less advocate

intrusion upon another human being's free will. And yet fools rush in where angels fear to tread... full of good intentions and ignorance.
