In answer to T1000's Original question.
I've taken the more scientific approach which I'm sure some of you will pick holes in, but...
If the note is real, then, after 24 Hours the world will change back and the note, which is a part of that world, will no longer exist. proving to you that it was true. Conversely if after 24 hours the note doesn't cease to exist then you know that it was a hoax. As the world you awoke to find yourself in wasn't an illusion.
Another arguement is that if the note is true then it is just an illusion created by your senses, so it doesn't exist. Therefore, if it doesn't exist if it is telling the truth. It must be a hoax.
