It seems to be catching. All over Spain currently the main Plaza's are occupied by people demanding change. The austerity cuts have hit hard in Spain and unemployment is through the roof. With the uprisings in the Middle East ongoing it should raise some interesting questions. The Spanish aren't looking to overthrow a dictatorship (They did that some time ago), they are looking to overthrow 'democracy', or more accurately 'The supposed democracy that exists in Spain as long as the rich and powerful remain rich and powerful'.
Some interesting videos on this at this site:

The situation in Spain is similar to a lot of western countries, might we see a peoples revolution worldwide? And if so, who will be first up against the wall?
Originally posted by PonderableYes and there are equally as many supposed democratic governments that effectively con its citizens into believing they are an important and integral part of their 'success'...most effectively tying them down without the realisation, by the masses admittedly, that they are being kept in place \ tied down at heel. This honour is bestowed quite randomly as far as I see.
Oh yes there are some "democracies" in which some people feel not well represented...
serious protest is not far away in many an old Soviet Blok domain, whereby the once countries monies miraculously 'created' idle numbers of oligarchs...
Well I just got back from Plaza Catalunya, and although the Spanish government have decreed the protests 'illegal' (not quite but I don't know the equivalent in English) because there are 'Elections' (I did that for effect) tomorrow. The protests seem to be in for the long haul and those I spoke to have absolutely no intention of dispersing tonight.
Should be fun!

I noted a few political dignitaries present at the Barca GP today, quite happy they've played their part in winning new election ..happy to strut their stuff amongst the high flyers of F1..and whilst I'm here, what about the new 'Bildu' party I heard of recently, will they gain power with the Basques...could that indeed begin the end of Eta or is that just a pipe dream ??

[hindsight] If I had wanted to post this in debates I would have done Spanky, truth be told I value the views of general more than the retarded clustersex that is debates. [/hindsight]
The Spanish Revolution was caused by electing Obama and his tax policies, them illegally occupying Northern Ireland, the Illumanti and rich tax dodgers, Muslim terrorists, the involvement of Hamas and Nazi gold!

As for the Basques and the end of ETA, who knows. I've been here a year and a bit now and I'm not even coming close to scratching the surface of the history of the Autonomous states in Spain like Catalonia and the Basque country.
