I've had two doctors call me a sociopath.

The military said I had "Psychological Tendencies" after scoring very high on their aptitude/I.Q. tests.

I wasn't let in.

What exactly is "Psychological Tendencies"?

They sent me that statement in a letter which also said I wasn't welcome.

I've had at least half a dozen posters diagnose me as mentally ill, complete [in some cases] with links to internet resources about mental health and specific illnesses. Just in 2022, for example, Suzianne, Kevin Eleven, josephw, sonship, and PB1022. Are there any certified "mental health practitioners" among us to post disapprovingly about forum banter of this kind?

"Psychological Tendencies" are when people overstate the "science" of psychology and understate its "humanities" / "social science" aspect.

If I could pick a war in which to be a "soldier", I suppose it would be the Culture War. I don't "want to soldier" on any other battlefield. And I say that in the full knowledge that Republican Party voters died on Omaha Beach in 1944 so that I would be free to go to the Superindo supermarket behind the Sultan's Palace here in Yogyakarta to buy papaya and jackfruit.

After I scored highly on the aptitude/I.Q. tests I was put in a room with three military personnel.
They said I qualified for three positions.

Truck Mechanic. Nope.
Tank Mechanic. Nope.
Tas-Op... what's Tas-Op I say...

Tas-Op is the guy who listens for other submarines.
Apparently I have great hearing and logic skills.

They gave me a date to meet with the doctor and she asked me why I chose Tas-Op.

I said in a submarine you have to be perfect. Whoever shoots last loses. You have to be perfect.

I remember it like yesterday.

Many years ago I worked in W.Africa with a chap who had spent time in an asylum.
He was Irish. I can't remember where the asylum was located, somewhere in N.Africa I think.
Anyway, when he was finally discharged from said asylum he was given a certificate to say he was now sane.
He carried this with him and proudly showed it to everyone he met asking if they could prove that they were sane.
