Youth hostels in England in the 1970s. Shared rooms. The chores in the morning. The conversations with strangers. The stamps in your membership book. The whole thing.

Recently spent 2 weeks driving across the Sahara desert with a pal.
Lived on top of an old land rover. Enjoyed being out of reach of the camel spiders.

There is a lot of military activity going on so it was surprising how often a phone signal could be had.

At the beginning of the pandemic, I took a solo trip to Germany to write about the life of Goethe and had the opportunity to stay in an apartment on the outskirts of cemetery wherethe writer is buried. The accommodations were superb and th company even better.

Lol. Long time war between Morocco and Western Sahara. Morocco have displaced over 1m people from Western Sahara who are now in camps in Algeria.
Its all about territory of course.
