There is something of a tradition in the UK of the media covering Christmas TV ads by department stores/supermarkets.
In particular, people now await the release of the 'John Lewis' Christmas advert. John Lewis is a department store whose main difference is the fact that it is a partnership where the employees are partners and share in the profits of the business.
So they do tend to provide a better level of service than competing stores whose employment strategy revolves around employing teenagers at minimum wage and not giving them a pay rise in 3 years
But before I realise that I should have posted this in debates, the reason that people specifically await the John Lewis advert stems from, I believe, the advert they ran in 2011.
