Ok, since i lost my star i've had to put up with some adverts, fair enough. But i feel i must voice some irritation at some of them.
The smiley face avatar ad. Why the F*** does it have to have sound? Every time a sweep past it with my mouse it screams "Hello" in a really irritating voice. By all means keep the ad (though i fail to see what it's doing on a chess site, who the hell is going to go and download one from here???) but for Gods sake get rid of the sound, it's driving me nuts!
Also the Sun advert gets on my wick as well. Firstly, it's a cr@p paper, but i can forgive that if they're going to spend money keeping this site running. It is the focus of the ad. It pictures a stupidly stereotyped 'ugly man' being kissed by beautiful women, followed by the line "we only date ugly men". It is basically stereotyping all the chess players on this site as ugly no hopers who have no life so consequently play chess on the Internet. I'm sure i'm not alone in finding this rather offensive. Why is it here?
