Yes it belongs to Spain, but it's beside the coast of the Morocco, beside the Western Sahara. I'm still counting it. Also, it's about as close to Africa as i ever want to get.

Amen. Why would anyone want to go to Africa other than for bragging rights?

I've only been to the Canaries, Egypt and The Gambia but all were beautiful,
interesting and great experiences. Friends have been to Kenya and Tanzania
for safari and many, many Brits have been to North African resorts for their
2 week summer beach holiday.

Why would anyone want to go anywhere other than their home and place of work?

Even my parents have been to Tunisia and they hadn't been out of the UK or Ireland until they were in their 40s. Mine was only a week holiday in Morocco as well, would love to visit east Africa.

I have friends who have "climbed" Mt Kilimanjaro which is a cool thing to say but
really you just have to be fit and determined (Its a steep walk not a climb!). Must
say Tanzania was on my shopping list for years but sadly never managed it. The
Gambia is not talked about much but it is stunning and a must for bird-watchers.

Africa is diverse.
Where have you travelled?
Oh....you have friends who went to fancy tourist resorts in Africa and had a good time at 1/10th the cost of a european vacation.
Tell them to go someplace like this to really get a feel for what Africa's all about:

Africa is not a cheap alternative to Europe for holidays.
North African resorts are similar price to Spain & Italy & Greece.
East and West Africa are more expensive.
Can't be bothered looking at your link but people tend to go to
nice places for their vacations. Don't you?

I was in Portugal last year for holiday. I now want to retire, or at least spend 6 months of the year there each year. It's such a cool place that an apartment in Albufeira , near the beach with a pool really appeals.

Lucky you. Only had the one holiday there but really enjoyed it. Atlantic not as warm as Med
and it can get a bit windy but the food!!! Best in Europe!

Only been on sun Holidays twice, now i can't get enough of them. I always got put off sun holidays by the Lager loutish stigma they had, and instead went to Central Europe or China. Now i can't wait to get the Flip Flops out, and chase my daughter around the beach lol.

Yep. Lots of Greek Island resorts have been ruined by 18-30 clubs.
But it would be elitist to suggest they should be saved for a few.
