Sorry for the caps lock but i need this thread to be noticed😉
I can't see or use exe files,I download them but i get a blank screen.
I suppose that the previous owner of my Pc deleted some file or application and now I can't see exe files.
Any help or suggestion is greatly appreciated, thanks.

1) http://www.mozilla.org/ - download Mozilla or Firefox for whatever platform you're using.

2) when you download an exe, check where it was stored on disk. There's absolutely *NO* reason for a web browser (which I presume is what you're using?) to do anything with an exe other than to put it on disk for you.

I think he means "hard drive" when he says disk. Go to any webpage and choose 'Save As...' from the file menu. From the resulting dialog you can see where your browser puts downloaded files.

No, he said he can't use the executables.

Do you get a blank screen when you actually attempt to run the file?
If so, it's quite interesting, never seen this before.

Are you using Windows? Do your other applications function normally and you only have problems with downloaded stuff? If so, I'd say just re-install Windows. Just run setup from explorer in Windows.

Otherwise it might be a virus. In this case you'll probably have to format and re-instasll Windows.

But before you go to extremes, give some more info.

Download the file to the desktop so its easy to find. (You can move it later) I don't understand "blank screen" tho ...

Ravello,

If you are on RHP with the same computer, then you computer is using .exe files.
.Exe = executable....

So if you are able to run ANY program on your computer, mozilla, word, any, then your computer probably does not need to be reinstalled, reformatted or anything drastic.

What exactly are you trying to do with these .exe files?

Are they self-executing zip files? If so, they are probably extracting all the files somewhere on your computer, then the program exits. You will still need to install/run the files that were in the archive. My guess is that this is what is happening.....

You should be able to know what exe files you are downloading, where they come from, what they do and why you need them.

If you don't know - I suggest you leave them alone. If you can't resist, at least know how to re-install all the software and data files on your computer - you might have to do so.

I know Mozilla places all downloads by default to either the Desktop or to a folder in My Documents call My Downloads. Are you trying to say when you download this exe file you can't actually find it.

If so try opening Mozilla and from menu got Tools and the Downloads, this will list all your downloads and you can open them from here.

Something like this happened to my brother, Mozilla had placed all of his download files by default to desktop and my brother had his "Don't show desktop" enable which confused him to hell. He forgot he had this enabled and when after downloading files and he couldn't see them on his desktop he thought there was a problem

Other than this I am unsure of what it is you are trying to say, are you trying to open the exe file and it doesn't work, if so then it is a bad exe file. The function that runs your executables on the PC must be working fine as previously stated otherwise nothing will work
