It's the night of our general electional in NZ.

An idiot stole a light plane and threatened to crash it into the The Sky Tower in down town Auckland. (The skytower is the 5th tallest building in the world it's a part of Skycity Hotel Casino.) Auckland is a city of over a million ppl.. the down town area is usually crammed packed on Saturday night.

The plane flew close over the city but crashed into the harbour. This according to the news was following a chase by a police helicopter??
(we don't have any fighter type planes in NZ anymore)
Police are looking for the pilot.. his fate is unknown..

Meanwhile..in the election.. Conservative (National) and almost Conservative (Labour) both about 41%... rest a mix of small parties. Under MMP we won't get a govt for a few days yet. Some are saying a Labour coalition is likely giving a three seat margin.

Hi TD!

It's a little off topic, but what is that absolutely massive flightless bird that the settlers found when they arrived in NZ, but which was very soon after extinct? I can't remember the name of the species, and would be interested to know more about it.
