I honestly thought that salami was horse. Maybe that was just a rumour I'd heard based on semi fact.
And what's wrong with eating horse or donkey anyway. I mean, compared to cows or sheep they're not that different, just easier to sit on.
I do find peoples conceptions about what is normal to eat & what isn't strange. Does anyone out their refuse to eat something that others concider normal (apart from being veggie/vegan)? How about eating things that others would think wierd? Personally I'd have no problem eating grubs, maggots, frogs legs, snails... as long as they're prepared well & taste nice.
Jon,you should enter "Fear Factor"
Shougi lives in Japan I know they have raw horse meat every now and again. There goes "the well" prepared part Jon.
I must admit I am not very adventurous as far as food is concerned.we have plenty good meat in South Africa.Fish too.
I dont eat prawns, they look like seacocroach's to me....

I never understood that program, "Fear Factor". There was never anything in the ones I saw that was worthy of fear. "jump from the top of this moving truck to the top of that moving truck, but with 3 safety lines attached to you so you're not going anywhere even if you do fall..." not exactly nail biting. The biggest fear is surely of looking stupid on national TV (ooops, too late...).
Now, without the safety lines I'd pay to see.

Hey, rump is rump.
Personally I enjoy a good osterich steak any day.
Slap enough spices on horse, donkey or whatever and call it salami, I don't care.

Probably depends on how you prepare it. Had some weird kagaroo stew or something at a buffet once... It was full of little bones and wasn't any good.
I went to the Suffolk Show once and there was this stand where you could get a free burger lots of people picked one up. As we ate they told us it was rabbit burger. Most people spat it out but it tasted good to me. I don't care what it's made from as long as it tastes good and it won't kill me! ๐

I could never really understand why people are sentimental about horses, except perhaps that they were so valuable for transport before we had cars that eating them would be pretty stupid. Now, though, they are fair game.
Except I'm vegetarian so I wouldn't ๐
