I use Thunderbird by Mozilla at the moment, but have a big gripe about the way it handles my hotmail - downloading it and deleting it from the http server at the same time. I recently lost all my email history (4 years) due to a glitch in TB.
I'm now running a second PC and want to be able to download my emails to both machines - so a copy is put to each.
What alternative mail clients (not MS product) should I look at that will allow me to get my emails without deleting them from the source, and also be slightly better securitywise than MS outlook Express etc?
Originally posted by rhbI have never tried to use it for hotmail, so I don't know how or even if that works, but I use Pegasus Mail and am quite happy with it. You can probably find out on their site if it can solve your problem: http://www.pmail.com/

Originally posted by rhbI didn't mean to imply that, I had no idea that option existed before I had to find a solution for a similar problem either. 🙂 Good thing you don't have to go through the hassle of changing email clients, though.
uh-oh... have I been being stupid?
(off to check TB settings again)
Edit... you mean the "leave messages on server" checkbox. How stupid am I?

I'm calling myself stupid really - I can't believe I spent so long without this, like I said above I lost 4 yrs emails when TB crashed one day, I restarted it and my hotmail folder was empty, no help offered on the mozilla forums so I had to resign to them being lost.
You're right the + side is I don't have to change clients now.... Thanks DdV.
Noodles, Pegasus will just have to wait! 😉
