Always wondered why general forum threads tend to go off topic. Couple of guesses might include the fact that it's inevitable because many topics are of

marginal interest. Another possibility, that detours and side trips with twists and turns and way leading on to way are the very nature of lively conversation.

Last, with "If it's off-topic or if you're not sure where to put it, put it here" Russ & Chris may unwittingly have endorsed the free lance dynamic. Bottom line,

this community receptacle thread welcomes the flow of the status quo. In other words, this thread's for team players and woe to anybody staying on topic.
