1 You might try Eade's The Chess Palyer's Bible ... not that my rating's much to write home about :-(

2 Find a player with a rating better than your's who is willing to dicuss moves as you play. There are some very generous players on this wonderful site

3 Try http://www.eudesign.com/chessops/ to strengthen your openings

better to have a sux rating and enjoy the game than a good one and get no enjoyment from it. better still to get a good game and enjoy that one. so good luck enjoy the game!

One can have a rating above 1220 enjoy the game. Enjoyment seems an irrevant dimension ... she wouldn't be here if she did't enjoy chess
