Yes, as is amidst.

But not around here.


I think amongst amongst's cousins, 'whilst' is still used widely in polite
conversation amongst certain socio/economic classes in the UK.

If I'm to keep my Spelling/Grammar Nazi title, I have to say "anointed", and "he and I". There is also a recommendation (not quite a rule) against the use of convoluted phrases and sentences.
