This last weekend I went to my first FIDE rated tournament. I had the opportunity to meet an IM and a WIM. I saw two kids of ages similiar to mine with USCF ratings of 1800 and 2000. The 2000 rated teenager beat the WIM. There was very good competition at the tournament and at least half a dozen Masters. I analyzed one of my games afterward with one of the Masters and I was very surprised with his ideas. I got an advantage early on and did some swapping. The man kept asking me if I was scared because of my swapping. He said that I shouldn't swap so much and keep my space advantage to finish it off. I won the game anyway. I won't get into how bad I did...Let's just say that i got 2 out of 5 points 😉

I felt great, my best time in Chess!

Boby, that's sounds pretty cool, but i'm not even near that level of players. I do hope to be there someday...
Jacko, I have played people everywhere from 1200-1800 that actually were enjoyable competitive games. The way I see it the difference between a 1200 player and a 1800 player is the amount of blunders. Any rating higher than that I think has some more knowledge of the game and don't make any blunders very often let alone more than one per game. This is where I am trying to get.
