A British inventor recently made the headlines with his invention: an ultrasound emitter that repels youths who can hear the annoying sound while adults cannot. He has successfully tested his product and already installed it near shops where unruly teenagers hung around and caused trouble.

It is motion activated and consists of a guy reading passages from the bible and it starts whenever there is too much "activity". Does the kids heads in as it goes on for about 15 minutes after motion is detected even if they leave the area.
Guess there is only so much bible bashing kids can suffer....
Seems to work really well though. 🙂

I heard about this a while ago on an autism mailing list. It sounds nasty. I really hope it becomes illegal. If it's loud enough to be extremely annoying for most teenagers, I can be almost sure that it would be very painful to me and other people who can hear those frequencies and are hypersensitive to sound. And if they install this near shops, not in shops, it would be impossible to avoid even if you don't visit the shop.

Reminds me of those painful lessons when a video player was used, and the teacher didn't switch it off when we were not watching a film. 😕 I still find the high-pitch buzz of TVs extremely annoying, but now I am self-confident enough to ask people to switch them off when they are not in use.

We should have two classes of threats, real ones and for teens.
