Joost did it again. Well done. I made him suffer though - 73 moves.
If you are interested, our notes on the game are below. Joost is (), I
am {}

1) d2-d4 (an opening I nearly never play and that I don\'t know verry
wel) / Ng8-f6
2) c2-c4 / c7-c5
3) Ng1-f3 / c5xd4 (trying to go to a position closer to a e2-e4 opening)
{dcpk - not sure what opening this is. Looking to get some early play
with my knights}
4) Nf3xd4 / e7-e5
5) Nd4-b5 / Qd8-b6 (treatening Nf6-g4 to attack f2)
6) Bc1-e3 (responding the attack) / Bf8-c5 (continuing the attack)
7) Be3xc5 / Qb6xc5
8) Qd1-d6 (treatening Nc7 and so forcing exchange of the Queens) /
Qc5xd6
9) Nb5xd6 + / Ke8-e7 (attacking the N and making place for the Rook
on h8)
10) Nd6-b5 / a7-a6 (making place to save the Rook on a8)
{dcpk - expected 10. ... Nc6 11. N1c3 Nb4 12. Rd1 d6}
11) Nb5-c7 / Ra8-a7
12) Nb1-c3 / b7-b5 (attacking the N on c7 and the Pawn on c4)
13) cxb5 ? / Ra7xc7
{dcpk - OK, my blunder of the game. two screaming kids and I'm in a
rush. should have turned off the computer and walked away. what I
ment to do is:
13. N7d5+ Nxd5 14. Nxd5+ Kd6 15. e4 Bb7 16. cxb7 Bxd5 17. exd5
axb5 18 Bxb5 Kxd5 19 Rd1+ Ke4 20. a4 and so on}
14) c4-e4 (trying to win the pawn on a6) / a6xb5
15) Bf1xb5 (the danger for black is coming now from the free Pawns
on a2 and b2, so the plan is to stop and to win this Pawns) / Bc8-b7
(developping the B in the only way possible and attacking the Pawn on
e4)
16) f2-f3 / Nb8-c6 (developes the N and hoping on an exchange with
the white B)
{dcpk expected 16. ... d5 17. exd5 Nxd5 18. Nxd5+ Bxd5 19. O-O }
17) a2-a3 (no exchange, starts the attack with the free Pawns) / Nc6-
d4 (treatening c2)
18) Bb5-d3 / d7-d5 (Hoping on 19) e4xd5 / Nf6xd5; 20) Nc3xd5 /
Bb7xd5; and further 21) ... / Nd4-c2 ; 22) Bd3xc2 / Rc7xc2 and then
23) ... / Rh8-c8. If not 19) e4xd4 gives what follows and that is also
satisfasying for black because is gives white an isolated Pawn on e4)
19) a3-a4 / d5xe4
{dcpk - had considered 19. 0-0 dxe4 20. fxe4 Nb3 21. Rae1 Rd8 22.
Re3 and should have}
20) f3xe4 / Rh8-a8 (staring the defence on the free Pawns)
{dcpk - expected 20. ... Nb3 21. Rd1 Nc5 22. O-O Nxd3 23. Rxd3}
21) 0-0 ? (probably trying to take away the treatening Ne4-c2 and
connecting the two Rooks, but it takes the King out of the center and
in a game without Queens a King in the center is a lot of the times
a strong weapon) / Rc7-c5 (after Bbt-c6 the treatening on c3 stays and
makes b2-b3 impossible)
{dcpk - wanted to get my king rook to the queen side to help my
pawns, figured I'd do f3 and Kf2 to return the king to the middle later}
22) Rf1-d1 / Bb7-c6
23) Ra1-a3 / Ra8-b8 (attacking b2)
24) Rd1-b1 / Nd4-b3 (treatening e2 and trying to win the Pawn on e4)
25) Rb1-d1 / Rc5-a5 ?
{DCPK - since I was relying on my pawns 25. a5 Nd2 26. Re1 Rxb2 27.
a6 might have been better}
26) Bd3-b5 / Nb3-d4
{dcpk - had considered 26. Re1 Na5 27. Re2 Nc4 28 Bxc4 Rbxc4 29.
a5 Nxe4 20. a6 Kf6 and so on}
27) Bb5xc6 / Nd4xc6
28) Ra3-a2 / Rb8-b3 (hoping to win b2 after Nc6-b4)
29) Rd1-d2 / Rb3-b4 (attacking e4)
30) Rd2-e2 / Nc6-d4
{dcpk had considered and should have done 30. Ra1 Nxe4 31. Nd5+
Kd6 32. Nxb4+ Nxd2 33. Nxc6 Kxc6 34. b4}
31) Re2-f2 / Ke7-e6 (taking away the treatening Nc3-e5 and so
preparing the attack that follows)
32) h2-h3 / Nd4-b3 (preparing Nb3-c5 with attack on Pawns e4 and a4)
33) Rf2-f3 / Nb3-c5
34) g2-g4 / Nf6xe4
35) Nc3xe4 / Nc5xe4
36) b2-b3 / Ne4-c5 (attacking Pawn on b3)
37) Ra2-a3 / Ra5-a6 (preparing Ra6-b6 and if 38) a4-a5 / Nc5-b7)
38) Rf3-c3 / Ke6-d5 (advantage of having the King in the center)
39) Rc3-f3 / f7-f6
40) Kg1-h1 / Ra6-b6
{dcpk - considered and should have done 40. Kf2 e4 41. Rc3 Kd4 42.
Re3 Rab6 moving my king towards the center and not away}
41) a4-a5 / Rb6-a6 (see notes on move 37)
42) Rf3-c3 (treatening to come to c7) / Nc5-b7 (loosing the h-pawn for
Black is more than compensated by winning the a-pawn)
{dcpk - I have a plan from here leading up to move 48}
43) Rc3-c7 / g7-g5 (don\'t want to lose the g-pawn)
44) Rc7xh7 / Nb7xa5 (Ra6xa5 isn\'t possible)
45) Rh7-d7 + / Kd5-e4 (preventing the Rooks go to d4)
{dcpk expected 45. ... Ke6 46. Rd3 Rb5 47. Kg2 Rab6}
46) Kh1-g2 / Rb4xb3
47) Ra3-a4+ (The N on a5 for the R on a6 is a weak point in Blacks
possition) / Ke4-e3
48) Rd7-d5 (Nice play from white, in my first overview I tought the N
was lost, then I saw the possibility of treatening with check -Re6-c6-
and as you analysed this would even give checkmate. Notice once
again the important role of the King in the center) / Re6-c6 ! (the N
is saved)
49) Ra4-a2 / Na5-b7
{dcpk Spent an hour looking at this position. the Knight is poison -
forced mate if I take it with either rook 49. Rdxa5 Rc2+ 50. Kg3 Ke2+
51. Kg2 Ke1+ 52. Kh1 Rxh3+ 53. Kg1 Rg3+ 54.
Kh1 Kf2 55. Rf4+ gxf4 56. Ra3 Rg1+ 57. Kh2 Kf1+ 58. Kh3 Rh1 mate
49. Raxa5 ends up the same. Debated taking it anyway, against a
lower rated player I would have. Think 49. ... Nc4 would have been
better for black}
50) Rd5-d1 / Rb3-d3 (trying to exchange rooks)
51) Rd1-e1 + / Ke3-d4
52) Ra1-b1 / Nb7-d8
53) Rb1-b4 + / Kd4-d5
54) Rb4-b5 + / Kd5-e6 (protecting Pawn on f6 and getting away from
the possibility of been put check all the time)
55) Rb5-b2 / Rc6-d6
56) Ra2-a4 ? / Rd3-d2 + (forcing exchange of rooks)
{dcpk - trying to force the advance of the pawn without good support}
57) Rb2xd2 / Rd6xd2 +
{dcpk - didn't really want to exchange rooks, no chance for me from
here on}
58) Kg2-f3 / Rd2-d3 + (keeping the King out of the center)
59) Kg3-g2 / Ke6-f7 (from here on the plan is to bring the N over e6
to f4 to win the Pawn on h3)
60) Ra4-a7 / Kf7-g6
{dcpk looking to cause problems with the rook behind the black
pieces}
61) Ra7-e7 (preventing Ne6) / Rd3-d6
62) Kg2-g3 / Rd6-e6 ? (trying to exchange rooks, Nd8-e6 is stronger)
63) Re7-d7 / Re6-e8
64) Rd7-d3 (wining the control on the third line) / Nd8-e6
65) Rd3-e3 / Ne6-f4 (arrived at last)
{dcpk - ok it is hopeless - what is the likelihood of a stalemate?
bleak!}
66) Kg3-h2 / Re8-d8 (treatening Rd8-d3)
67) Kh2-g1 / Rd8-d3
68) Re3xd3 / Nf4xd3
69) Kg1-g2 / e5-e4
70. Kg2f1 / f5
71. Kf1g2 / f4
72. Kg2f1 / f3
{dcpk - enough already}
73. Kf1g1 / e3

Yeah I won but I was twice lucky in this game, first when David made a
blunder (move 13, wasn't there something with the figure 13?) and
second time when he nearly won my N (move 48). I think we're verry
close, so If you want David I come back to you later for some games
but first I'm leaving on holliday. So Folks see you in some weeks and
I hope when I'm back that the ROW team is still leading. Go ROW go.

Joost
