The 2007 version of Norton got the best reviews from most of the sites i looked at...cnet.com etc.

It takes up less system resources than the old versions but I still woudn't run it unless you've got at least 1GB of ram...2GB if you run vista.

If you have an old compy then get AVG

If I paid for an AV program, which I don't, [I use AVG] I would choose NOD32.

A good free firewall is Zone Alarm. Have had it for years and very happy with it.

AVG is an anti virus program while Zone Alarm is a firewall.

I use Trend Micro, got top ratings but its not free. If you use a wireless router, they have built in firewalls so you can turn windows firewall off, which,like they say, isn't so hot anyway.
