I quit cigarettes on May 21st 2003 and haven't had one since 😀 It was my 25th or so attempt and was only made possible by the fact that my girlfriend and I both bet each other that we couldn't do it. The first one to give in owed the other £200 great insentive 🙂 Well done to you and keep it up! 🙂

Congratulations to you! did you both succeed?

I thought this would be much harder than it has been so far...the steady flow of nicotine is a huge help, I couldn't imagine going cold turkey...

I quit in the year 2000 for 3 months. I was young and stupid, but I learnt from my mistake. Well done for quitting though. It's always good to have goals and stuff.

We did indeed 🙂 We both went cold turkey straight away, decided it was worth doing if there was that much money on it.

Make sure you decrease your nicotine dosage, slowly but surely. I have a friend who quite cigarettes 2 years ago. Unforunately he is now addicted to nicotine patches instead.....

I quit a year and 2 months ago and then started back up about 3 months ago. Hooray for me.

I can see how that would work...I've been starting slowly, by taking it off further away from bedtime each night, and putting it on later each morning...down to the 14mg patch soon, let's see how that goes...

My gf quit again about 7 days ago. We've just entered the 'cranky as a bag of cats' stage. I think I'm going to go out and buy her a crate of Bennie Hedges.

Is she trying to go cold turkey?

If not, tell her to use the patch, it really reduces the cravings, and helps you focus on beating the psychological addiction...I've been a bit cranky, more sensitive than usual and definitely somewhat distant, but certainly not as vicious as I was when I tried to go cold turkey...

I've tried quitting quite a few times before. Then I always end up having one beer too many and I just light up again.
I've stopped drinking beer in an effort to quit cigs now - I'll try to stop smoking in a few months again - one vice at a time!
