Update : The beta process is now complete
The beta is close to concluding, so I have posted to the site blog summarising what is new.
Blog Post 664
The more eyeballs (and mouse clicks) on this release, the better - so if anyone would care to help, please do visit xxxxx.
Note : Image uploads will not function & blogs will be missing images. Also, live chess is not available, but any other problems should be reported. Thanks.
@Great-Big-Stees saidStees,
Might I ask, why the changes? They seem, from the bit I saw, to be cosmetic.🤔
I believe it is more of an update and Russ wanting to keep up or ahead of the competition, things are changing all the time, and us old folks have to keep up with it, or get left behind. 😉 I have learned some things in the Beta Testing I didn't know, of course I am practically computer illiterate anyways.

@Very-Rusty saidAs you know I play more for the verbal intercourse than the game itself so any technical updates/changes, really don’t affect me…well yet.🤔👍

Yes I understand you are here more for the verbal/social part, but it will be good to know how the upgrade is going to work too, it may come to your advantage at some point.

@Great-Big-Stees saidIn this update, the user facing changes are mostly cosmetic, as this update is mainly concerned with the board itself and little else.

But it is actually entirely new board code, and as with many updates to RHP, a lot of work is often making the "new stuff work like the old stuff", so there appears to be a gradual evolution and painless transition from one to another - even if there has been a radical change behind the scenes, as is the case here.
As the board interface is obviously one of the most sensitive pieces of code to change, it does need to be absolutely right when it hits production. The last (known) significant bug, discovered by @very-rusty no less, is about to be patched too, so this is nearly ready for release.
@Russ saidThank you, not only for your response but “your” site. As a user first a while now, I appreciate the opportunity to engage in banter with a GREAT group of…well chess players.👍

@Russ saidi love the animation of the last move played
I now have a release candidate - so this is the last chance to take a look and have a play.
Primarily, the board interface is new, so just make your regular moves and see how it goes.
All feedback appreciated.
