That was wierd, I did a whole post and even the title screwed up. The question was, is anyone familiar with Cyberlink? I just got this unsolicited email proporting to be from this outfit, supposedly a media sharing site which could be useful if it's for real. I don't want to get burned by a spyware outfit however. I usually just delete this kind of thing but I might use it if its on the up and up.

hehe, I gather you didn't get my full message but just an open box. Something screwed up my post.

Yup.

But seriously, I've dealt with a company called CyberLink in a few of my past jobs. They're a digital media company much like Nero; got their own media player program, mainly do DVD playing/burning software, etc.

Same people who contacted you?

Must be. I was thrown off by a message that came with it wanting me to 'install language pack' or words to that effect. If it is just a media company, why would they want that? Suspicious.

Is it asking you to install it when you're reading the e-mail or visiting their site?

It's asking to install this quote language pack unquote BEFORE I even open the email. Suspicious, no?
