problem though is soccer players would then equalize things by really whacking harder at the better players even more than they do already, hoping to take other team's best player out even momentarilly
i have nothing against diving, hell i used to do it but this feigning injury crap as to be stamped out. one of their ludicrous reason for not wanting to use technology is that it 'wastes time'... nothing wastes time more than having to stop play because some idiot is faking an injury.
soccer could learn a lot of rugby.

1. Add 6 inches in every direction of the goal posts to increase scoring.
2. Offsides should only be called if flagrant
3. Last man foul penalty and ejection should be scrapped
4. Instead of yellow card or ejection, sit the offending player like a power play in hockey
5. Start and stop the clock instead of the guesstimated added time at the end.
6. Have illegal defense as in basketball to avoid too many players in the box.
7. Video review all penalty kick plays
8. Video review dubious goals
9. Allow for a substitution system like basketball whereby players get a rest and can come back in.
10. Zero points for draws!

2. offside rule is fine
3. yeah i see what you're saying, the last man rule is stupid but sendings off are needed in the game.
4. again rugby has this, thy do have red cards but a yellow and you sit out for 10 minds. i'd like to see that in soccer as well.
5. again they do this in rugby. if there was a video red system i'd be in favor.
6. nah, too many players in a soccer game to control that.
7. agreed but won't happen
8. dido
9. hell no. look at international friendlies, it makes for a rank game.
10. a pen shootout at the end for an extra point.
I'm in favour of video evidence.
With the amount of money that is now in the game, it's important to get major decisions right.
Video evidence for any contentious decision in or around the penalty area would be a good thing - and it wouldn't hold play up, 4th official could have a monitor and relay information to the referee via the headsets.
Hopefully, video evidence would also put an end to all the shirt pulling in the box as well....why can't referees seem to understand that if something's an offence outside the box, if it's committed in the area it's a penalty?
Originally posted by blade68One thing I admire about USA style football versus traditional football is the NFL's willingness to tweak the rules annually in order to protect the players, liven up the game if defenses get too strong and other such measures. Soccer is too stuffy and the reforms imposed make the game slower, lower scoring and boring. Much as I like soccer it is once in a blue moon when there is a really exciting game whereas NFL or NCAA football is generally exciting. The nil-nil draws just make me wanna cry! Games decided by penalty kicks comes a close second. Let them play until they drop if it's a final. Italy-Germany 70 WC will never be surpassed for greatness and drama!

not true. they held a silence at the scotland/france 6 nations game today... what gets me more is the 'minutes tribute' that ends up lasting about 25 seconds.
