Just listening through the much hyped album, quite punchy.. story-esque songs are kinda like the streets but the sound is indie guitar rock.
Anyone else caught up in the Arctic Monkeys hype? If so whadyathink?
It seems a bit heavy for me, although I do like a couple of their songs.
Maybe, I just need to listen to it a bit more.

There is a freshness to their songs that just hasn't been there through the last few years of Coldplay, Razorlight, Kaisers, etc.
I'm at Sheffield University right now, and am proud to have borne witness to the emergence of one of the most talented bands around. Around January last year, they played a gig in a local pub called the Harley, and actually had people crowdsurfing.
They haven't released their strongest singles, yet have managed to gain a couple of No. 1's, which is surprising given the current manufactured rubbish which clogs up the charts. I think their best stand-alone track is "Fake Tales Of San Francisco."
What makes them a little different to other Brit bands is the absence of arrogance from the group. In addition, they seem to have a pride of place in Yorkshire - and even recently played in a Working Men's club. They certainly have a lot of potential, and I wish them the best.

You're not from New York City, you're from Rotherham"

Could all go a bit Frank Spencer."

There's only music so that there's new ringtones"

Brilliant.
The Libertines meets the Streets is the description most often bandied about in the media.
Oh, and in a similar(ish) vein, Maximo Park aren't too shabby either.
Originally posted by ark13I wouldn't worry about those arctic monkeys. I've been pretty hungry lately - I should finish off the last of them in the next few days.
That's just cruel :'(
Anyone have a place I could crash (literally) for a while while I try to find a new home? Maybe I'll try Antartica.
