Yeah...JAP...short for Japanese...interpret it anyway you see it...I didn't say "Nip" or "Gook" or "Slope", which are offensive, so I wasn't using "Jap" as a racist tag...I used it in the same context as using Aussie for Australian or Turk for Turkish... 🙄

Well, I'd just like to say that I think the post in question perpetuates negative American stereotypes, but I also think it was very funny and I was not offended. 😀

We Americans like to have fun and make jokes and most of us can take one, too. 🙂

"Yank" is one, but don't call a southerner "Yank"...Yankees are typically northerners east of the Mississippi River...and also the name of that hated baseball team owned by George Steinbrenner...let's see...Mexicans call us "Gringo"...you'll have to answer that question 'cause I know Americans are the topic of many get-togethers..so, come on people what do you call us Americans when being rude and crude towards us...I just opened a can of worms...😲

Would you be a Jar Head? Is that US or just military in any country?

Yankee Doodle Dandy is another for Yank....

Joe? That is what the Koreans used to call all of us at the fish market.

Phlabibit, "Jarhead" is strictly U.S. Marine..from the caps that they wear, or used to...looked like a jar..also some of them have the "high and tight" haircut that was rounded and squared at the same time..jar-like

Rednecks? But that's not really a broad enough term is it.
I forgot about 'Yanks' 😵

No worries dude, I don't really give a crap about too much that goes on in the rest of the world, as long as it doesn't touch my part of the world, so I don't get together with friends to seethe and foam at the mouth about americans 😛

But it does touch your part of the world, Crowley...indirectly so to speak...Redneck..yeah, that's a broad term that describes a certain culture here in the States...misunderstood, but probably some of the nicest Americans you will meet are rednecks...and they are NOT all racists as projected...by the way, a lot of rednecks like Jack Daniels...LOL...so, could you be a South African redneck? 😀

Naah, here I'm called a 'boer' (farmer 😕) or 'dutchman' because I'm Afrikaans speaking...
This loosely translates into the SA equivalent of redneck 🙂

But I'm a redneck with STYLE
😀

You know ian, there was a time I actually thought you could contribute to a debate.

Now you just waste everyone's time.

I have no problem saying this outright - there is not a single attempt to use brain power in your posts anymore. They're nothing more than attention-grabbing trolls.

Which is a shame. Sometimes there are valid issues to be debated between Europeans and Americans because of our similar goals and interests yet different viewpoints on approach. But the only thing you strive to do is terminate any debate.

All I ask is that when a real debate appears, please stay away.

Thanks.

Here in England "Yank" can be used for ANY American.
It can be used in an offensive way (damn Yanks 😉, but I don't think it's inherently meant to be offensive.
