Apparently having your own ideas is bad now... 😕 😕 😕

And there are treatments available.
You must conform. Resistance is futile.

That's an annoying article.
As Palynka pointed out. When things are taken to the extreme where it effects our everyday lives, it becomes a problem. Something that we do on a regular basis which we enjoy and doesn't cause any harm should be fine. When it becomes a habit, and leading to obsession, then that can be harmful.

It's much like ADHD. There are whole oceans of difference between someone with real ADHD, and the majority of simply badly raised children these days whose lazy, good-for-nothing parents get them put on Ritalin just to be shot of the effort of caring for their spawn. In the mean time, those children who really do have a serious ADHD problem, and they do exist, can barely get the treatment they need due to the strain put on the system by useless middle-class parents.
I can already see how these new diagnoses will be used in very similar ways. Can't you?

People with real ADHD do need to be helped, and it is better for them to be diagnosed in order to help them, than no diagnosis at all.
There will as far as I can see, unfortunately, always be pseudo-science, but we should not let this interfere with our progression of genuine science.

ODD has been about in Special Education for a while.
Difficult to diagnose and no specific treatment (as far as I know)
I teach a boy who (we think) has ODD.
You want him to sit down you tell him to stand up.
You want him to be quiet you tell him to shout.
His response to everything is [b]"NO"
