We're up to STEP 6, which has taken us to La Rochelle.
I'm going to bed but fully expect to see this thread completed in exactly 80 steps, with amusing tales of derring-do in East Africa and French Polynesia into the bargain.
I know you can do it.

Svetlaya to Noshappu-misaki by stilt-wading.
Noshappu to Providernya by one boing on jet-powered pogo stick.
Providernya to Alaska by time machine and land bridge.
Alaska to Mexico by roller skating, holding on to a rope tied to Forrest Gump.
Mexico to Colombia by being kidnapped by coke dealers.
Colombia to Cape Horn by Arnold Schwarzenneger piggyback.
Cape Horn to Falklands by the Belgrano.
The last stage of the journey (Falkland Islands to Manchester) was really amazing, I travelled by the word 'etcetera' being bellowed incredibly loudly by 30 male Welsh expats from the islands.
Edit: Actually, none of this is true (disclaimer for the impressionable). I've never left my village in Tuvalu.
