whats wrong with football mate?
Well, if it was just a game of skill I'd probably think it was fantastic as I like most sports. Instead it has risen to the point where people get killed or assaulted over the fanaticism which surrounds it. The fan culture that has arisen is indicative of the same overzealousness that I see in evangelist preachers and it has turned british culture into one of yobbish, drunken mob rule. It has erred away from a decent sport, which should be enjoyed by everyone, into some misguided sense of patriotism or local territory stomping. The players themselves are less famous for their skills than they are for their media coverage, which shoes they advertise and how much money they get paid. They are regularly up in court themselves for drugs, drink driving, the same violence some fans show and occasionally are even accused of rape. Basically it reminds me of all the things I dislike about people.
