See, as a former referee, it's very difficult as a human being to let that play develop. You've got to remember that the game is moving as quickly for him as it is for the players. You can make a case - and I'm an Arsenal fan - that even if the referee allowed play to continue and the result was a Barca goal, the goalkeeper would still have to have be ...[text shortened]... the end those rushes, instead of playing in a compact formation, probably did the Gunners in.
I know it's hard to swallow. I remember when Portugal lost to France in 2000 with Abel Xavier's penalty I was gutted, I truly believed at that moment that the ref had cracked under the pressure of the crowd. In hindsight, it was a clear penalty and the correct decision.
Barcelona are deserved winners and Arsenal should be proud of putting up such a fight. I don't know why Wenger insists in that Lemon of a goalkeeper.
That ref was shocking, and the linesman! Normally I dont like Arsenal but I did feel sorry for them tonight! The ref should have allowed the goal, kept Lehmann on, the first goal was offside, just but it was and Van Bommel should have been sent off for the challenges he made during the game. It was a good game but a shame it was 10vs11!

recc'ed for the very subtle, and spot on, impression of Arsene Wenger.

was in a pub in glasgow, when henrik larsson came on, huge cheer from the celtic fans, and why not, he set up the 2 goals.
