Truth can be hidden or obscured for a time by those who oppose it or wish to distort it. One example
that comes to mind is the Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964, which "justified" U.S. intervention in Vietnam.

In the case of Tonkin, the truth (that there was no attack against U.S. warships) was revealed
many years later. I don't recall the details of who and how, but it was too late to change the
course of history. An effort was made to discover what really happened, but the war was over.
