Yep, that was it. I only caught the end of it on CNN. Apparently there's some rule that it's not permissible tp play ANY Cliff Richard on that station. Seems a bit draconian even by Britain's standards.
skeeter
"so, what do you think about tony blackburn getting suspended for playinc a cliff richard record?"
nole pauses..."erm-tony blackburn? of *names radio station*"
"yup"
"erm-i'm a board member of that station. i gotta make a phone call..."
twas hilarious! 😛
and it was cause there were none of his songs on the playlist, so they weren't allowed to play them-but he's been playing them for a while...😛

maybe if the radio is playing stuff you hate, you should just reach out and twist the dial...find some station that caters to your taste...
So, for example...
Billy Joel? Don't Play "Movin' Out." Play "Christie Lee."
Derek and the Dominoes? Don't play "Layla." Play "Keep on Growin'."
Stevie Wonder? Don't play "I just called to Say I Love You." Play "Another Star."
Dave Matthews? Don't play "Ants Marching." Play "Gravedigger."
The Black Crowes? Don't play "Hard 2 Handle." Play "Cosmic Friend."
311? Don't play "All mixed Up." Play "Stealin' Happy Hours."
Chicago? Don't play "Look Away." Play "I'm a Man."
Rusted Root? Don't play "Send me on my Way." Play "Martyr."
The Rolling Stones? Don't play "Satisfaction." Play "Loving Cup."
The Allman Brothers Band? Don't play "Ramblin' Man." Play "Rockin' Horse."
I've got a million more, but I'll stop here.
