Cudos to Austria for enacting an animal rights law with teeth! A fine example for other countries to follow.

Not that much, free range eggs aren't that much more expensive than Battery one's. (In the UK anyway...)

Are you sure they are not battery eggs with different packaging?

Yes: sure. They need certification to use "free range" on the packaging. Otherwise its big lawbreaking. Alas some less than reputable battery egg sellers use "Farm Fresh", "Farm Range" and the like in a similar text colour/font to fool the unwarey.
