So, orkboy, are you the new king of spam here at RHP? In the 53 days you've been a member here you've made 120 posts, and I don't think a single one of them has been worth reading. Do you think anyone enjoys being flooded with 120 posts ...[text shortened]... g a little more thought, effort, and selectivity into your posts.
i'm called orkyboy not orkboy
no i don't intend to spam on any site and i am not a king of spam
i worked out 120 posts in 53 days to be just over 2 posts a day which i don't think is a lot
have you read all my posts to check your facts or are you just guessing and how do you know it's drivel have you conducted a nationwide survey or something or is this your own opinion?
i use shortcuts because i can't type quickly and i would spend a long time writing a couple of lines if i didn't use shortcuts but for this post i have used no shortcuts just for you
you say i act juvenile and i find this to be quite normal of a 12 year old
i'm not trying to "pad my post count" i enjoy making friends and talking on RHP
i hope you take all these points into account next time you write a post to have a go at me. thank you.
i hope this post has had enough thought put into it for you
orkyboy
Originally posted by orkyboyWell orkyboy, I am impressed. A little. You've managed to cobble together a post that has more than one uninteresting sentence in it. At this rate, we'll make a nobel laureate out of you yet. Now if we could only get you to use punctuation and capitalization properly...but that is probably asking too much at this point.

Of course orkyboy, nobody begrudges you the right to express yourself in these forums. However, you would do well to remember that this is a forum and not a chat room. When you post here, you are not having an isolated conversation, but rather, you are presenting your post for the inspection of the entire RHP community.
First of all, since your post is intended for an audience, you have to ask yourself if it is clear. Are you getting your point across so that people can understand you? Your typing shortcuts, lack of capitalization, and lack of punctuation all contribute to make your posts more difficult to read. You only save one keystroke by typing 2 instead of to. However, your spelling does appear to be very good, which is to your credit.
Secondly, you have to ask yourself if your post is contributing anything significant to the discussion at hand, or is it just clutter that nobody else will find interesting? Are you contributing to the conversation by carrying it forward, or are you just talking for the sake of hearing yourself talk? You will make more friends by saying a few interesting or humorous things, rather than by saying many pointless things.
The purpose of all this is not to "have a go at you", but rather, it is to try to enhance your enjoyment of these forums...and so we won't keep seeing orkyboy as the "last poster" in a whole series of threads all the time.
Originally posted by rwingettrwingett, lighten up - whilst conceding that spamming is a problem, you made a condescending personal attack on a 12 year old and he had the wit not to be spoken to in that manner. the thread is about avatars, orkyboy was discussing with uncle adam how he created his. why you chose to single out this posting baffles me. it is outrageous for you to think you can lecture others about their grammar and punctuation. people are free to express themselves how they wish and i am not aware of orkyboy having posted anything offensive. he's twelve! if you wish to address the issue of spamming, you may wish to choose to do so in a less patronising manner.

p.s. i avoid capital letters, is this on your list of irritating things?
p.p.s as for avatars - you can't beat a good curry π

Originally posted by redlentilsAh redlentils, of course you are correct. My tone with orkyboy was heavy handed, and uncalled for. For that I do apologize. However, I would be very surprised if I were the only one who had similar feelings about his plethora of posts.

As for lecturing others on their grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc., I think I am well within my rights to do so. If this makes me some sort of pedantic snob, then so be it. As I said earlier; when you post something in a public forum, you are presenting your post for a broad audience. It's not some sort of scribbling in a private diary that nobody else will ever see. You should respect your audience enough to make your post as presentable as possible. The idea that this is the internet, and therefore literary styles are more lax, I think is a contemptible attitude. It is nothing more than a feeble excuse for laziness on the part of the writer. I hold myself to a very high standard when I write a post here. It may not be perfect, but everything is written to the best of my ability. To allow anything less would be intellectual slovenliness on my part.
Of course, 12 year olds cannot be held to the same literary standards as those approaching 40, and because of this orkyboy was a poor target for my wrath on the subject. So once again, I extend my apologies to orkyboy. But I think that he is capable of doing better, and he should willingly hold himself to a higher personal standard.
p.s. Improper capitalization is a minor infraction in my book. It is cutesy shortcuts like u for you, and poor spelling which really grind me to no end.
p.p.s. This has been written on a wonderful white eMac.

I checked the site you git it from but its a car site so I'm guessing that your the webmaster of it.
Originally posted by PhlabibitYes, I suppose I could. But a 50 by 50 pixel area is not much real estate to work with. For that reason I have contented myself with doing my profile pictures. Plus I've only recently learned how to upload my own images to the internet, so great changes may be in store.

I'll never be that good with paint shop.

Originally posted by redlentilsI tend to be in agreement with redlentils here. At the end of a hard day, if I read something in the forums I don't want to sit down and write a masterpiece in response. I might just write a quick reply in whatever format comes into my head at the time. Rwingett, I don't know if you've got any kids but I think you were being way too harsh. You can't expect every internet user to live up to your standards. I read back through a few of orkyboy's posts and I've got to admit there wasn't much there for me but I simply chose not to respond rather than shred the poor little guy.

Looks like an auto-refilling, fast-pouring pint of Guinness. You really should send that off to the Patent Office π
PS I am slightly disturbed by the website you got it from π²
This was one of the ones I liked:
